I had a chance of looking at how much some CPA marketers are earning. My jaws hit the floor. How can anyone make 32k in a day? It is not some Photoshop screenshot but the CPA company interface allows earning shouts which is drawn live from the system and displayed on a live chat. That’s where I saw those big figures. Remember I said 32k in a day not in a month. Now that is insane. This gives you some idea how: http://x.co/9RnqK

I’ve been very conflicted about affiliate marketing for a long time. (I wrote about some of my concerns recently.) My concern is that the nature of the conversation between you and your community can change because of it.

All CPA marketers put their eggs in one basket. I’ve seen plenty of the greats go from zero to hero and vice versa several time in their careers. The smart ones learn to build their own business in the process and pimp their products to CPA newbies (where the real money is). So if your only focus is to make the most money you can I would advise you not to spend it all because that business model won’t last.

Jennifer! That would be great! Yeah a lot of them a fairly low but bear in mind that these programs only represent a tiny percentage of what’s on the market. I’m planning on updating this post soon with some high paying programs i’ve found over the last few months. Glad you enjoyed the post.

One of the cool things about services, for instance, is that often there are recurring commissions. For instance, I make roughly 20% a month every time I refer someone to Sumo or Visual Website Optimizer which are both services that I use religiously.

Did you know that Commission Junction is one of the oldest affiliate marketing programs? That means they are a trusted company working with a lot of big brand names. That is a very valuable asset. Don’t think it will be easy, you will have to work hard for it, as Commission Junction standards are high. But it’s all well worth it. Products from these big brands will sell much easier, especially if your audience is already buying them. Working with Commission Junction can be hard work, especially for beginners. But, the brands that Commission Junction provides is why the company is highly recommended regardless. Nothing worthwhile is easy I suppose, even if you’re just starting out.

Yes, you can because affiliate marketing does not violate any Adsense TOS. In fact, for me, affiliate marketing works better than Adsense, and that is one reason you see fewer AdSense ads here at ShoutMeLoud.

Very good point, Susan – ideally, we want products that are not too well-known so that everyone and their dogs aren’t promoting them, but well-known enough so that there’s some sort of name recognition.

I do want to pay the commission somebody deserves, I do want to provide support, I do hope people think my product will be worth ‘selling’ to their friends and members and I am happy to set a long cookie time as I think it is only fair that if somebody comes through a referral that they get paid for it! Without them I wouldn’t have made the sale in the first place!!

Start a website relevant to your niche. Before becoming an affiliate, many companies will want to know the URL of the website that you’ll use to sell their products. They do this because they want to ensure that the content on the website won’t hurt the company’s reputation.

Write honest, real reviews about products. Build up trust with your audience, and remember that they rely on your opinion. Don’t just point out all the positives of a product and gloss over the negatives. An honest opinion will be valued. Add compelling images and make mention of useful features, specifications and other details.

Their affiliate tracking and management technology is very good and easy to understand and use. Their affiliate managers are really good as well and will guide you as to what you need to do to make a successful affiliate scheme for your business.

Great article as it gets me thinking about the various ways to monetize my sites. With that said, my biggest hurdle has been how to get started building traffic. You see articles all over the net talking about massive traffic techniques, but I’ve never really found a guide for a fresh blog/website and how to get to their first 100, 500, or 1,000 daily uniques. Of course writing consistent quality content is key, but writing alone an audience does not make. Any tips or articles to point us to? Thanks again Sean!

“Michelle is unbelievable. I had a decent amount of traffic, but struggled with using affiliates wisely. I used to get really overwhelmed with affiliates and would be disappointed when I didn’t see results from the enormous amount of effort I was putting into it.

  1. I’ve never found a way to rationalize using affiliate marketing for my site without being concerned with compromising my message, but at the same time, you’re right that it does confer lots of benefits. What are your thoughts on this?
Love him or hate him, Tai puts some pretty good content out there. One of his most popular products is something called “The 67 Steps”. It’s a personal mentoring program that teaches you how to cultivate the mindset required for success.
