Many affiliate marketers use paid advertising to generate additional traffic to their site and drive more sales. Paid advertising on social media is often a good place to start, as these networks tend to be more affordable. You may also want to consider taking out inexpensive banner ads on small niche sites. Depending on your niche, Google AdWords could also be a good option to drive some paid traffic to your site.
Not much, except for the fact that I strongly believe there’s no one system that works for all, yet that’s exactly what those type of companies claim. I’ve been there, done that with a couple of other similarly structured businesses; hadn’t succeeded until started my own business (this blog.)
I agree with you on Amazon Associates. The 4% start is really, really poor. Sure, you can build it up quite quickly, but it’s annoying when you reset back to 4% at the start of the month, and then someone buys an expensive new bed, or an expensive outdoor grill, etc.
Be Clear on Tactics and Strategies. You don’t want to cannibalize your affiliate program with your own marketing tactics. Keep in mind that affiliates drive a lot of their business through search marketing. If you are both competing on the same keywords, this can often cause issues. For if you don’t want them to bid on your brand terms be upfront about this at the very beginning of the program.

The guys at Affilorama are a great bunch, very supportive and no bs. Six figure mentors is an affiliate program, but top end investment and monthly fees apply. A bit Guru focused IMO, interested what others think
Some merchants are using outsourced (affiliate) program management (OPM) companies, which are themselves often run by affiliate managers and network program managers. OPM companies perform affiliate program management for the merchants as a service, similar to the role an advertising agencies serves in offline marketing.
After having recently shifted to WordPress- I have been wondering about what kinds of affiliates to place on the blog as there are so many out there- it does get very confusing about which ones to pick out!
Most successful businesses leverage the power of sales funnels to add value and generate huge profits. As an affiliate, you can leverage sales funnels that have already been setup by merchants to promote their products/services.
Not all companies offer an affiliate program, of course, but for those that do offer affiliate programs, you can check their website for related information. When searching, be sure to check the company’s FAQ page if they have one.
Thank you Amy for this great information. I’ve been doing just the banners on my side bar, but now I think maybe doing the links would work better. I’m going to experiment. I’m only doing products that I’ve tried and can 100% approve of. I think bloggers who don’t stick to their morals are just slimy.
Surveying existing customers to learn their favorite products or services and then contacting those companies to inquire about an affiliate program. For example, a small business marketing consultant might become an affiliate of an email list management and distribution service.
Fake reviews are out of control. WA appears to have systematized a “fake review factory,” but other companies and also rogue affiliates have made this so widespread, especially for products related to “make money” and general “old school” net marketing, that sorting out good from bad requires an experienced, professional eye.
For example, I might find a top selling course on click bank that I actually want to buy and when I buy it I can study all of the sales pages and up sells. I’ve found that I have learned much more from doing this than any actual courses. ?
